Larry C. Piatt, age 81, of Portsmouth, Ohio passed away on January 17, 2024, at Portsmouth Health and Rehab, surrounded by his loving family.
Larry was born September 27, 1942, to Henry Clinton Piatt and Mary Francis Suter, his grandmother Fannie Piatt who assisted in his upbringing, who all preceded him in death. He was also predeceased by his sister Kay Kelly, a son Andy Piatt, and a daughter-in-law Dreama Piatt.
Larry was a lifelong Portsmouth resident and graduated from Portsmouth High School with the Class of 1960. Larry was very proud to have been inducted into the Greater Southern Ohio Tri-State Sports Hall of Fame for softball. Larry always took an active interest in his children’s and grandchildren’s lives. He loved to take them on drives to obscure places of interest, and always had a good story to tell.
Larry was loved and will be greatly missed by his children, son C.J. (Kristin) Piatt, daughters Jodi Piatt, and Laura (Bill) Piatt Holland, the mother of his children Sally Piatt, grandchildren, Bryant (Whitney) McQuithy, Drew (Keri) Piatt, Mandi (Bobby) Barnett, Hayden (Bailey) D’Amico, Kayleigh (Seth) Holland, and Mack Dyer. Larry was blessed with 5 great-grandchildren, Logan, Sloan, Isaiah, T.J., and Evelyn.
A service will be held at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from the hours of 12-2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Andy Piatt Memorial Scholarship at The Atomic Credit Union, or National Church Residences Hospice, Waverly, Ohio.
