Larry Junior Evans, 73, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, August 8, 2025. Born in Portsmouth on May 11, 1952, he was the beloved son of Virgil Evans and Henrietta Elswick. A resident of South Webster, Larry was known for his love of restoring and tinkering with old cars and playing Bingo. As a Carpenter, he was always doing great projects in woodworking for everyone to enjoy. Although he had a passion for photography, he never chose to embrace it fully. Larry was also a great cook, renowned for making the best Beans and Cornbread anyone ever tasted. He was a strong man and a great provider, ensuring his family never wanted for anything.
Larry is survived by his two sons; Larry (Marlena) Evans of Portsmouth and Virgil Evans of South Webster, four daughters; Penny Evans of Minford, Sue Ann Logan of Portsmouth, Dixie Evans of South Webster, and Heather (James) Twinan of Lucasville. He also leaves behind two sisters, Connie Riddlebarger of Minford and Joann (Robert) Starrett of Portsmouth, along with nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Larry shared a special bond with his cherished fur babies, Missy and Little Ann.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Evans in 2021, his parents, and his brother, Gary Evans. Larry’s memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral Service will be 12 NOON, Thursday, August 14, 2025 at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in South Webster. Visitation will be from 11:00 am – 12 NOON. Interment to follow at Scioto Furnace Cemetery.
