Larry N. Wheeler, 63, of Wheelersburg, OH passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loved ones on Sunday, July 17th after a courageous battle against not one, but two different cancers. His relentless fight showed the strength of his character; To keep pushing forward with a smile. Despite his pain, Larry remained a hero continuing to work and share his sense of humor until the very end.
Larry was the proud owner of Wheeler Heating and Air. The business he built on his own in 1992. He proudly served his community making many lifelong friends along the way. He never met a stranger and would do anything to help those in need.
Larry was born on January 10, 1959, to Alexander and Virgie Wheeler. He grew up in a large family where he learned the value of working hard for what you want in life.
He met Cheryl, the love of his life in high school. They went on to marry in 1982 and became a happy family of five over the years.
Larry will not only be remembered for his dedicated work ethic, but also for his love of time with his family and friends. When he wasn’t working, you would often find him in his building shooting pool, throwing darts, or sitting around telling stories with his Country or Bluegrass music playing.
He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend, but he was extremely proud of his title of “PAP”. His grandbabies were his pride and joy. They will forever cherish memories of playing with PAP, his pranks, and all the things he built or fixed for them. If they wanted it, PAP made it happen.
Larry is survived by his best friend and wife, Cheryl; their three children, Meagon (Jeremy) Riggs, Matthew (Trevor) Wheeler and Caitlyn (Jeff Walters) Wheeler: grandchildren, Camdon, Khloe and Karissah Riggs, Gage, Ava and Liam Walters.
He is also survived by his special sister-in-law Traci Apel and brother-in-law Scott Kitchen; nieces, Mykal Maxie, Bea Bradley and nephew Jeffrey Apel whom he was like a father to.
Siblings, Bill Wheeler, Darlene Locke, Gary Wheeler, Della Martin, Roy Wheeler and Cathy Lykins; his father Alexander Wheeler; father-in-law Sonnie Kitchen, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his loving mother, Virgie Wheeler and mother-in-law Carol Turner.
A special viewing will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday July 21, 2022 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in Wheelersburg.
As per his wishes, there will not be a funeral, they were sad and he didn’t like goodbyes. He wished to be cremated so he can remain at home with his family.
In honor of his relentless fight, donations may be made in his name to SOMC Hospice, they along with all of his medical team were nothing short of amazing.
