What started as a suspicious vehicle call outside the Dollar General in South Webster turned into a late-night arrest for breaking and entering.
Just after 10 p.m., a caller told dispatchers that two men had parked a white Ford in the store’s lot and were seen going into a vacant house next door.
When a Scioto County Sheriff’s deputy arrived, one of the men was detained immediately. The deputy called for an ambulance after noticing possible signs of drug use, but medics determined transport wasn’t necessary.
Officers arrested Jeremy Hay on charges of breaking and entering and failure to appear on an existing warrant. The charges stem from an earlier Scioto County Grand Jury indictment for breaking and entering.
Hay was booked into the Scioto County Jail before appearing in Portsmouth Municipal Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
