A quiet night on Mabert Road was briefly disrupted early this morning after a resident reported a man outside her home shouting profanities in the dark.
Portsmouth officers were called to the area around 1:30 a.m. after a woman told dispatchers she could hear a man outside yelling and causing a disturbance, but said she couldn’t see where he was coming from and was unable to provide a description.
Officers responded and searched the area but were unable to locate anyone matching the complaint.
About 30 minutes later, the same resident called police again. This time she reported that the same male voice from earlier could be heard threatening someone, and it sounded like the disturbance was coming from the area of 1925 to 2001 Mabert Road.
When officers returned to the scene, they located an intoxicated man in the area.
Police spoke with the man and warned him to stop causing problems in the neighborhood. No arrests were made, and officers cleared the scene after the situation was brought under control.
