Leander Workman, Sr.

Leander “Lee” Workman, Sr., age 90, of South Portsmouth, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley, where he was recovering from a broken hip. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Lee lived a life marked by faith, service, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Born on January 18, 1935, Lee proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a radar operator stationed in Spain. After his military service, he built a career in sales, working in insurance, hearing aids, and other fields, always with a heart for helping others.

Lee was a man of deep Christian faith, known for his integrity, work ethic, and quiet strength. He showed up for his family, his church, and his community. Whether volunteering at his local church or visiting residents in nursing homes, Lee’s compassion and civic spirit touched many lives.

He found joy in painting, hunting, reading his Bible, and exploring the world of computers. His passions reflected both creativity and curiosity, and he passed those values on to his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Bessie Bramblett Workman; brothers Jim Workman, Raymond Workman Jr., and Dennis Workman; daughter Gina Denlinger; and stillborn son Jeffery Workman.

Lee is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Beatrice “Dottie” Litteral Workman; sister Patricia Stevens; brothers Robert “Bob” (Barbara) Workman and Danny (Sharon) Bramblett; his sons Leander (Sheila) Workman, Jr., and John (Debra) Workman; and daughter Anita Miller. He was a proud grandfather to Tim Miller, Stephen Miller, Leander Workman III, Aaron Denlinger, Nikki Denlinger, Lea Linderman, Maria Crockroft, Wendi Austin, Krysti Wynn, Shelby Williams, Blake Brown, and Jodi Brown, and a great-grandfather to 20 great-grandchildren.

Lee’s legacy is one of love, faith, and steadfast devotion. His presence will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with David Robirds officiating. Burial will follow at Collier Memorial Gardens in South Portsmouth, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the funeral home from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. and from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour on Friday.
