Lois Helen Friend, 76, of Lucasville, died June 19, 2025, at her home, surrounded by family, love, and prayer. She was born June 5, 1949, in Portsmouth to the late Curt and Helen Allard Kazee. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Homer Friend Jr.; four brothers, Tony, Rick, Dennis, and Dale Kazee; and two sisters, Margaret Kazee and Tammy Rigney.
Lois was a homemaker and truly made her house a home. She was a faithful woman who loved Jesus with her whole heart. She was strong—stubborn in the best way—funny, generous, beautiful, and above all, loving. She affected every life she touched and will be missed dearly.
She loved her family fiercely and cherished the simple joys of life—sweet treats, episodes of Gunsmoke, porch sittin’, and spending time with her loved ones and her dogs. Her babies included her red-nosed pit bull, Kado; Petey; and her granddog, Tobias. She and her husband were a safe haven for those who needed them, and she continued that legacy throughout her life.
Lois is survived by her son, Robert “Bud” Lykins; two daughters, Betty Ellis and Tammy Puckett; four brothers, Dean, Dallas, John, and Greg Kazee; three sisters, Sharon Kazee, Tina Rose, and Doris Graham; five grandchildren, Trista Throckmorton, Raymond “Bub” Jones, Lashawnda Biggs, Ashley Puckett, and Ayla Puckett; eighteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Lois was lovingly cared for in her final years by her granddaughter Ashley – another one of her babies, who moved back home to be by her side and also by Misty Marcum — her caregiver, friend, and family member at heart.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to Roger W. Davis Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses. Condolences and donations may be sent to www.rogerwdavisfuneralhome.com.
