A harrowing dog attack left an elderly woman with possibly torn-off toes, as roaming canines sparked a day of fear, blood, and warnings across the city.
🐾 Elderly Woman Mauled on 7th Street
The nightmare unfolded on 7th Street, where an elderly woman was viciously bitten by a dog and rushed to the hospital. Family members contacted police after the attack, and officers called in Wendy from Animal Control.
Photos of the injury were so graphic, police believe the dog may have ripped off some of the woman’s toes. She’s now recovering at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where doctors are evaluating the extent of her injuries.
Surprisingly, Animal Control allowed the dog to go home with its owner—for now. A citation will be issued after the medical report comes in.
🏃♂️ “That Dog Chased Me on My Motorcycle!”
Just when officers thought it couldn’t get worse, a Wilson Avenue resident flagged down police, claiming he was chased by a loose dog while riding his motorcycle. Officers found the owner and issued a warning.
But wait—more dogs on the loose! About an hour later, a Linden Avenue caller reported yet another pack of runaway pups. Police tracked down the owners and gave a final warning: next time, it’s a citation.
⚠️ Why It Matters
- Loose dogs = lawsuits and liability. Even if your pet is “sweet,” one moment of fear or aggression can lead to devastating injuries, especially to kids and seniors.
- City law requires you to keep pets confined or leashed. Period.
- Multiple loose dog complaints in one day show a growing problem — and police are cracking down.
🐶 What You Need to Know
OWN A DOG? Here’s your checklist:
✅ Secure your yard or tie-out
✅ Don’t let dogs roam off-leash
✅ Be honest about your dog’s behavior
✅ If your dog bites, report it immediately
Loose dogs aren’t just a neighborhood nuisance—they’re a public safety hazard. And if this week’s horror story isn’t enough to make pet owners take notice, a judge’s fine and a lawsuit might do the trick.
Keep your pups secure—before they sink their teeth into your future.
