Three Lucasville inmates are in even more trouble after the Scioto County Grand Jury returned indictments against them in its latest session.
The three men stand accused of harassment with a bodily substance, a rampant problem in prisons. This charge means the inmates used urine, feces, spit, or other bodily fluids as a weapon against staff or fellow inmates.
Urine bombing is a particular problem for corrections workers. Disgruntled inmates save as much of their urine output as possible and throw it at passing staffers.
The grand jury indicted 26-year-old Joshua Hamm, 22-year-old Zachary Welsh, and 21-year-old Dorian Jones for harassment with a bodily substance.
Hamm is currently doing time for burglary, attempted burglary, attempted participation in a criminal gang, intimidation, attempted felonious assault, and harassment by an inmate. Right now, he’s eligible for a parole hearing in late 2025, but these new charges could change that.
Welsh was convicted of involuntary manslaughter with a gun specification, aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, and vandalism and will be behind bars until at least 2048.
Jones is doing time for aggravated arson and is currently eligible for parole in November of this year. As with Hamm, the new charges could change that.
