Man Arrested For Public Indecency at Speedway – 35th Arrest
A man is behind bars for the 35th time after Portsmouth Police investigated a report of a suspicious person at Speedway just after 12:37 am.
Police arrested Vages Martin, 42, on warrants for public indecency and for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Previous arrests include drug possession, probation violation, obstructing official business, contempt, criminal trespass, assault, violating a protection order, and burglary.
Doors Kicked in Around Town
Officers investigated a rash of reports about people kicking in doors on Wednesday evening. Just before 5 pm, a Mabert Road woman informed police that her ex kicked in her door before leaving the scene. Police took information for a report.
A contractor for US Bank contacted PPD at 5:12 pm to report that people had repeatedly kicked in the doors and windows of a home on Dewey Avenue that he had boarded up multiple times. The contractor said he would secure the building as best he could, and officers promised to have more patrols in the area.
A Dale Street caller called the police at 7:30 pm to report someone had torn the doors off her deceased father’s home and taken belongings out of the house. Police took information for a report.
At 11 am, PPD investigated a report of a broken door at a 6th Street house. Officers noted there were multiple ways to get into the home thanks to a recent fire.
Squatters Reported on Possum Hollow Road
A Possum Hollow Road resident contacted deputies to report that unwanted guests had set up housekeeping in a trailer on her property and would not leave.
The woman said the people originally came to visit her daughter. She asked officers to check on them because she believed they were doing drugs. When an officer went to the scene, they said they could hear people inside, but no one would answer the door.
Dispatch advised the woman she must evict the daughter who permitted the people to stay there if she wanted to get rid of them.
