Portsmouth Police took one man into custody after a report of some suspicious activity at a Sciotoville car wash.
Just after 11 am, the owner of a car wash contacted police to report a passenger got out of their vehicle and car wash, hopped a guard rail, and attempted to get into his nephew’s truck.
Police saw no damage to the vehicle, and the suspect claimed he thought it was his father’s truck and he was trying to open it with a key.
However, officers did not find a key on the man or in the immediate area. Police arrested him on an open warrant from the Scioto County Jail for driving with a suspended license.
However, the man did have previous arrests for grand theft auto in 2018 and 2011 as well as two prior burglary arrests.
Officer took him to jail, where he will be released once he pays $2400 in court costs and fines.
