Officers took a man into custody on five counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor and booked him into the Scioto County Jail on Tuesday evening. But first, they gave the guy a ride to the homeless shelter.
Relatives of a girl had claimed online earlier in the week that she’d met Braceon Madison online and left town with him, allegedly headed to his home state of South Carolina. Madison had updated his Facebook page to claim he was married to the underage girl.
Officers got a tip in the afternoon that someone had spotted the girl with the man at the Burger King in Wheelersburg just after noon. When officers headed to the restaurant, they detained the man and called for CPS for the girl.
Family members rushed to the scene, and officers called for an ambulance to take the girl to the hospital.
According to the police report, deputies put the man into a cruiser and then gave him a ride to the Portsmouth Homeless Shelter, where they dropped him off around 2 pm.
At the hospital, the girl told officers she’d left voluntarily with Madison.
However, he was booked into the Scioto County Jail on sexually oriented material charges just after 6 pm that evening.
Later that evening, the suspect’s mother called in to report that threats had been made against her son on Facebook. She did not want to file a criminal report but did want officers to be aware.
