A Portsmouth man contacted police officers after he regretted his earlier generosity.
He called officers to his apartment building for a theft report just after 4 pm. He told them he’d invited a man into his apartment the previous evening and given him $40. Later, a woman stopped by and he gave her $10.

When he thought it over, he decided he shouldn’t have given the money to people who didn’t live in the building and wanted to file a theft report.
Officers explained that there hadn’t been a theft.
