Man In Underwear Throws Rocks

A man in underpants threw rocks at his neighbor, a Facebook affair leads to death threats, and Portsmouth Officers try to solve the case of a knife that keeps vanishing.  Portsmouth officers responded to some scary situations on Friday and Saturday. ODs and Drugs

Friday

  • Police were called to Harding Avenue at 3:21 am for an overdose. The man required four doses of Narcan to revive. Once he was alert, he refused further treatment.
  • At 3:30 pm, PPD was called to Findlay Street for a man staggering in the middle of the road. Officers issued him a summons.
  • Officers were called to Charles Street at 9 pm for a report of a shirtless man staggering in the alley. His mother said she would take care of him and took him inside.

Saturday

  • Police were called to Wayne Avenue just after 7 am for a report of two men sitting on a stoop. The two were shooting each other up in the neck. Both men were read their rights. Their drugs were impounded. They were released.
  • Just after 4 pm, police found a man passed out behind the Portsmouth Cinema. They advised him to nap somewhere else.
  • Just about 40 minutes later, a woman OD’s on 5th Street. She was taken to SOMC
  • At 4:49 pm, a man overdosed on Royce Street. He was issued a summons to appear in court on a warrant and released.
  • Just before 9 pm, officers were called to Mabert Road for a report of a man lying on the ground. When police arrived, he ran into the woods. The man refused treatment. It turned out he had warrants from Kentucky and from Adams County.

Parking Problems

Friday

  • At 6 am,  officers advised the owner of a vehicle parked on Summit Street about complaints. The vehicle had been issued a 72-hour warning. The owner swore it had only been 24 hours. Turns out he has a warrant. The county came to serve the warrant.
  • More parking problems at 8 am. Police were called to 2nd street for a report of 2 vehicles parked in the 2-hour parking spots in front of Edward Jones since the day before. The owner agreed to move the vehicles.

Kidnapping – Or Not

Friday

Just after 11 am, police were called to Adams Street. A caller said a man in a red truck tried to abduct two teenage girls.

When police spoke to the girls, they told them that a man in a truck had whistled at them as they were walking. He never tried to contact them or said anything to them.

No way to treat your Mom

Friday

Just after 11:30, a woman told police that her son spit in her face. There were no other signs of physical abuse. They didn’t want to file a police report.

Saturday

Officers were called to the Woodbine Apartments on Kendall at 11:19 am. A woman reported that her son stole her cancer medication.

Animal Control Issues

Friday

Just before 2 pm, police were called to Lincoln Street for issues involving dogs. A woman was walking her dog on 11th Street when a dog from Lincoln Street attacked her animal. The man who owned the attacking dog separated the animals. Animal Control was not available to help out.

Saturday

At 3:06 pm, the police got a call about a black and white dog running around 29th Street trying to bite people. The owner put the dog away. Officers sent a complaint to Animal Control

Smoking Teen

Friday

Police got a call at 2:37 pm. A 17th Street neighbor reported a 13-year-old boy smoking cigarettes.

Police said they’d swing by to check.

Abduction?

Friday

King’s Daughters Security called officers to the Scioto Trail for a report of a woman being forced into a car.

A woman said she saw a man pick up an unconscious woman and put her over his shoulder. He then put the woman in a car.  She described the car and both the man and the woman involved.

Officers said they don’t have enough information to do much.

Missing Person

Friday

  • A man worried about his wife called officers at 5:15 pm on Friday.
  • He said he hasn’t seen or heard from her since 8:45 am.
  • Kentucky Police checked the bus station she was supposed to be at. They couldn’t locate the woman.

Bad Teeth and a gun

Friday

  • Just after 6 pm, police were called to the Royal Inn on Kendall Avenue.
  • A witness said a skinny man with jacked-up teeth had a gun. He was threatening to shoot people.
  • His alleged victim refused to talk to police.

Dad vs. Mom

Friday

A woman called police at 7:30 pm on Friday to report that her ex was threatening her. There’s a protective order in place from Kentucky that prevents the two from talking. Though they can communicate about a child they share via text.

The woman said she had allowed the man to come visit her to see the child. However, she now said he was no longer welcome. Officers advised her to call police if he shows back up.

Just A Toy

Friday

A report of a man waving a gun around in Mound Park at 9 pm turned out to just be kids playing with toy guns with their parents.

Officers advised them to be careful.

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

Saturday

Just after 3 am, officers were called to Robinson Avenue for multiple people fighting.

he group dispersed when police arrived.  Fifteen minutes later, the fight started up again. Once again, officers broke it up.

Dude? Where’s My U-haul?

  • At 11 am, a 26’ cargo truck was stolen from the parking lot of Evans Variety on 11th Street.
  • The key was left in the ignition.
  • The vehicle was located at Wagner rentals in New Boston.

Facebook, Guns, and Cheating

Saturday

  • An online threat brought police to a 17th Street apartment just after 11:30.
  • A  man told police that the woman his wife is cheating on him with threatened him via Facebook.
  • The other man showed the husband a picture of a gun via message and said he would shoot him.
  • The wife’s lover told him to come to Michigan because he wasn’t allowed to leave the state.
  • The complainant referred to the Michigan man as “bi*! fag**t”

Knife or Not?

Saturday

  • An extremely strange call involving a knife on Walnut Street.
  • At 2:19, police were called to a house for a report of a man cutting another man with a knife.
  • The homeowners said no one was cut. No one was there with a knife. No police were needed.
  • Officers found the man they believed did the cutting on Buch Street.  They read him his rights.
  • The cutting victim’s girlfriend told police she didn’t see how her boyfriend cut his arm. But he was beating on her car.
  • The woman said the suspect threw a knife but that it got “stuck in the couch.”
  • Unsurprisingly, the suspect had another version of the story.
  • None of that mattered, since the victim declined to press charges.

Where’s My Stuff?

Saturday

Police were called to 6th Street just after 4:30 pm when a woman saw a man pushing what she thought was her stolen lawnmower.

Officers met her there. Turns out it was not her lawnmower

Angry and in Underpants

Saturday

  • Police were called to Coolidge Avenue at 10:46 pm. The resident said the neighbor, just wearing his underwear, was throwing rocks at the windows. He was also making threats.
  • The angry, undressed man left the scene before the police arrived.
  • Police were called back to the scene at 11:36 pm. The neighbor was shining a flashlight into the caller’s house.
  • Officers decided to leave that call for the midnight shift.
