A party spun wildly out of control and ended up with some of the guests being treated for gunshot wounds.
Just after midnight, a caller told 9-1-1 that someone had been shot in the hip and that people were running everywhere at Proctorville address.
When Lawrence County Deputies arrived, they spotted a “bunch of people” running in a field.”
Officers did their best to contain the party guests to find out what was happening. They spotted a young man covered in blood sporting lacerations and bruising and another young man with a laceration on his index finger.
The victim with the bloody finger said he had been shot.
Medics checked out the injured while offices tried to determine exactly what happened.
They learned there’d been a party with multiple people invited to the home and that two individuals had gotten into a fight.
One said someone jumped him and beat the heck out of him, and then he heard gunshots. He said he spotted a man with a mullet firing the gun.
He said that he owned a gun, but it had been stolen a few days prior. Officers noted that both injured parties appeared to be intoxicated.
Deputies took statements from the party guests before allowing them to leave and eventually released them to their parents so they could have sober rides home.
