Man Shot In Face at Funeral Home
A man was shot in the face in the parking lot of a local funeral home and an innocent baby was caught between feuding adults. We break down the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Man Shot in Face at Funeral Home
Shortly after 6:30, a caller told police someone shot him in the face with a pellet gun a funeral home and that it wasn’t the first time an assault like this happened.
The victim said a black Chevy Equinox pulled into the parking lot of Daehler Funeral Home and kid sitting in the back seat fired 3 shots from a BB gun that hit the victim in the face.
Police said the victim’s face was swollen but he refused medical treatment. Other than the description of the vehicle as a newer Equinox, police had no other information about the suspects. They took information for a report.
Stranger In My House
At 7:55 pm, police responded to 17th Street for a report of two women fighting outside. When police arrived on the scene, a resident asked them to search her home because she said a stranger was inside her home.
Police checked inside but the woman was gone.
Innocent Baby Caught In The Middle of Feuding Adults
Fifteen minutes later, officers headed to Swauger Valley Road for a report of a man and woman fighting.
A caller said the woman was holding a baby when she jumped in front of a Mustang drive by the male. She then grabbed him and screamed at him while holding the child.
The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and PPD responded to the scene but could not locate the parties involved.
Kids Scared By Man With Gun
Four units responded when a 6th Street caller said a man came outside and waved a gun, scaring a bunch of kids in the area. The caller said the man then went inside.
He said the man didn’t directly threaten the children but they were frightened.
Police caught up with the man who said he had a bottle of liquor in his hand and not a weapon. Police observed that he was extremely intoxicated and advised him to stay inside.
About 20 minutes later, the complainant called back and said the man had once again followed and was screaming and yelling at them before returning home.
Police told the man that if they had to come see him again, he’d be arrested.
Gun Pulled at American Legion
Shortly before midnight, callers from the American Legion Post on Gallia reported a man pulled out a gun on other people and then left in distress.
Police put out a BOLO for the suspect and contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office.
