An area man ran, but he didn’t get far when he tried to take off from a drug interdiction team and get rid of the evidence by throwing out a window during a high-speed chase.
According to Kentucky State Police, it all went down in Boyd County when troopers tried to pull over Benjamin Layne.
Layne,44, decided to take off at high speed. During the chase, troopers saw him throwing bags from the driver’s side window.

Due to heavy traffic and high speeds, they broke off the chase.
Officers recovered the bags and determined they contained heroin and meth. Not long after, they found his vehicle near the Walmart in Cannonsburg. Officers quickly set up a perimeter and deployed K9 Officer Fabi to track Layne down.
Fabi soon found him hiding in the woods near some homes. Officers arrested Layne and took him directly to the Boyd County Jail.
They charged him with speeding, reckless driving, wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, tampering with physical evidence, trafficking in a controlled substance, evading police, and failure to appear.
He was arraigned in Boyd County District Court on Friday.
