Three Crackheads Too Many
Just after midnight, a 6th street caller told police she had “three crackheads here” and planned to hurt them if the police didn’t do something.
Four units responded to the scene.

- Just after 2 pm, a woman took candy bars from the Speedway on Gallia and fled in a maroon Ford Explorer.
- At 9:56 am, a man reported a burglary in progress on the Scioto Trail. He said a neighbor called to tell him people were carrying things out of his apartment.
- A woman reported a stolen wallet at Kroger at 12:18 pm.
- At the same time, an Alexandria House resident reported her scooter stolen.
- Dollar General Store Employees on Harding reported a known shoplifter who usually carries a knife in the store. Officers caught up with him on Harding and advised him to stay out of the store.
- A 5th Street man called police at 3:25 pm to report a neighbor stole his trashcan. Officers spoke to the neighbor and the can was returned.

- Just after 7 am, police answered a call to assist a woman who’d fallen out of her wheelchair on Baird Avenue.
- Police checked on the 82-year-old mom of a Scioto County Jail inmate after he said he couldn’t contact her. Officers said she was fine. The woman said she planned to call her son when she could get to a phone.

Family Feud
At 11:31, police answered a call about a 14-year-old girl fighting with her 50-year-old Uncle. When police arrived, they discovered the altercation was verbal.

- Just after noon, a caller reported a shirtless man ‘going crazy’ in Bannon Park. Police could not locate him.
- An 11th Street caller reported a man in a dark coat standing in the middle of the street with his arms crossed. Police took him into custody.

Man With A Sword
A woman called police just before 9 pm to report a man with a sword threatening to kill her and her family on 13th Street.
Three units arrived on the scene and took the man into custody for assault, aggravated menacing, and domestic threats.
Custody Battle With Grandma
A worried grandmother called police just before 9 pm to report threats from the father of her grandchild.
Portsmouth grandparents told police they’re in the midst of a custody battle for a grandchild of which they have full custody. They’re due in juvenile court for mediation in January.
The grandparents said the child’s father became argumentative during a phone call with the child. He threatened the grandparents and called the grandmother’s phone 14 times in half an hour. Police documented the activity but said it didn’t rise to the level of criminal activity.
Are You Home Alone?
It sounded like a scene right out of a horror movie on Linden Avenue just after 9:30 pm. A woman told police a strange man called her phone twice. Each time, the man asked if she was home alone.
Police said they would try to call the number back.
Punched By A Neighbor
A Farley Court resident called police just after 11 pm to report he was “sucker-punched” by a neighbor. Police offered to file an assault report but the man declined.
