A bizarre late-night call to authorities highlighted the dangerous effects drugs can have on both body and mind.
Scioto County deputies say a man phoned in claiming he had five ounces of drugs on him and that someone was trying to take them. When officers arrived, they found the man highly agitated and took him into custody. He was also trespassed from the property where the incident occurred.
Once at the Scioto County Jail, the man complained of chest pains. Deputies immediately summoned an ambulance, and one accompanied him to Southern Ohio Medical Center for treatment. Authorities noted this was not his first incident — just a few weeks earlier, the same man experienced a similar drug-fueled episode and had also been hospitalized.
Drugs and the Mind: A Dangerous Mix
This case underscores a troubling reality: drug use can cause paranoia, hallucinations, and severe physical health issues.
- Stimulants like methamphetamine or cocaine can trigger extreme anxiety, hallucinations, and a false sense of being chased or hunted.
- Large quantities of drugs can also push the body into dangerous territory, causing heart problems and chest pain.
- Repeated incidents, like this man’s, show how quickly drug use can spiral into a cycle of medical emergencies and legal trouble.
