Marisa Karoline “Roo” Reeder, 27, of Portsmouth, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, after an extended illness. Marisa was born in Portsmouth on September 5, 1996, to Matthew Zachariah and Kimberly Christiane Swords Reeder, who survive.
An outgoing and energetic woman, Marisa was a certified phlebotomist, nail technician, and aesthetician. She lived her life to the fullest, whether it was her “Paparazzi” live feed on Facebook or other colorful social media posts, traveling with family (especially to the beach), or visiting with her many friends, she always brought a smile and laughter to those around her. She collected knives, loved butterflies, and was a former singer in the First Apostolic Praise Team. Marisa also promoted childhood cancer awareness and wanted others to understand and support these causes.
Surviving are her parents, Matt and Kim Swords Reeder of Portsmouth; two sisters, Miranda C. (Michael) Takach of Jacksonville, FL and Macayla C. (Mark) Nice of Portsmouth; nephew, Micah R. Takach; niece, Haddie R. Takach; uncle, Christopher Swords of Portsmouth; maternal grandmother, Phyllis Parker Swords of New Boston; and paternal grandmother, Carolyn Davis Reeder of Portsmouth; and many friends.
Preceding her in death was her maternal grandfather, Oscar “Buddy” Swords, Jr.; maternal grandfather, Forrest Glenn Reeder; and an uncle, Mark G. Reeder.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Pastor Tony Knittel officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour on Thursday.
