Martha Ann Collins, 83, of West Portsmouth, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2021, at the home of her son in Portsmouth. She was born Dec. 10, 1937, in Clay Center, a daughter of the late George and Marcella Bemis Butterfield.
Martha received a degree from the former Portsmouth Interstate Business College and she had been employed for the Portsmouth Daily Times, where she worked in the circulation department for many years. She served on the River Days committee for many years and enjoyed playing Bingo and working on puzzle books.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd Collins, on Sept. 1, 2009. The couple was married in Clay Center on Feb. 25, 1959.
Surviving are two sons, Robert James Collins of Portsmouth and Keith Alan Collins of South Webster; a sister, Marian Stevens of Geneva; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Martha was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles Albert and Clarence Edward Collins; a daughter, Mary Ruth Sizemore; two brothers, Charles and Robert Butterfield; a sister, Betty Bemis; and a grandson, Christopher Boyd.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 A.M. Wednesday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Masks will be required to attend.
