Martha Rose (Comer) Parker, age 92, of Oak Hill, Ohio was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 3, 2026 at Four Winds Community in Jackson, Ohio.
She was born June 26, 1933 at home in Minford, Ohio to the late George Franklin and Dorothy Marie (McGranahan) Comer. Martha was raised in Minford, Ohio which is where she attended school and lived at the beginning of her marriage. In 1953, she was married to Harold Dewey Parker, also from Minford. Together, they purchased farmland in Oak Hill where they moved to raise their family and had their successful family cattle farm. They were married for 47 years until he passed away in June 2000.
Martha was a faithful member of Hamilton Glades Freewill Baptist Church in Minford. She was a woman of unwavering faith who trusted God in all seasons of life. Her life was anchored in her relationship with the Lord and guided by prayer. Martha walked daily with the Lord until He called her home.
Martha lived a selfless life and was a servant to others. Her life was a testament to humility and she never sought attention or recognition from anyone. She quietly made this world a better place. Martha’s faith bloomed in her garden and was shared generously at her kitchen table. She spent countless hours in her garden. She planted seeds in the soil and tended to the plants daily until time for harvest. Her garden was a quiet sanctuary where she prayed and drew strength from the Lord. Martha absolutely loved to cook for her family. She prepared a meal every Sunday afternoon where her family joined to eat and spend time together. Martha knew every family member’s favorite meal and dessert. She made it for them on the Sunday near their birthday.
In addition to Martha’s husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her oldest son, Steven Mikeal Parker; sisters, Louise Brafford, Geraldine Smith, Avanell Wheeler, Annabell Williams, and Ethel Comer (in infancy); and brothers, George “Pete” Comer, Ronnie Comer, Denver Comer, Clayton Comer, Edison Comer, Forrest Comer, Gerald Comer (in infancy), and twin brothers Alton and Elton Comer (in infancy).
She is survived by her children, Harold Kevin (Sheila) Parker, John (Penny) Parker, and Shirley (David) Evans; daughter-in-law, Teresa Parker; grandchildren, Steven (Tara) Parker, Alicia (Kevin) Kammler, Jennifer Parker, Kayla Parker, Jessica (Tim) Williams, Daniel (Ashley) Parker, Nicole (Corey) Ruby, and Michael (Caitlyn) Evans; great-grandchildren, Ali Sexton, Allena Williams, Lainey, Jase, & Arley Parker, Mason, Parker, & Evan Ruby, and Alaina & Lyla Evans. Martha is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Martha’s favorite passage in the Bible was Matthew 6:28-29. “And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin. And yet I say unto you, that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” Martha understood that worry did not add value or control to any situation. Beauty and provision come from God and He tended to all of her needs.
Friends may call Wednesday, January 7th from 10:00 – 12:00 at the Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home with the funeral being held at 12:00 PM. Pastor Ronnie Parker will be officiating the service. Internment will follow at Harrison Cemetery on Swauger Valley in Minford.
