Marvin Rice, 90, of Portsmouth, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023, at SOMC Hospice Center. He was born February 10, 1933, in Johnson County, KY, a son of the late John and Gems (Blanton) Rice.
He was a retired Technical Librarian from the former Atomic Energy Plant. He enjoyed spending time outside working in the yard and watching people as they go by. He would sit in his garage during a storm, just watching it rain. He also loved spending time with his family.
Marvin is survived by a daughter, Cindy Hamm, and husband Bill of Wheelersburg and a grandson, Will Hamm of Wheelersburg.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Hall) Rice; three sisters, Jean Edmisten, Billie Harrison and Faye Crum.
Funeral Services will be 12 Noon Thursday June 8, 2023 at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Pastor Brent Saxton officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Wednesday and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
