A man hyped up on meth terrorized his family members with a gun. Just after 8 am, a woman told 9-1-1 that she was afraid for her and her father’s life because her son was threatening to fire shots inside the house.
She said she was able to flee from her son, but her disabled dad was still inside. The sister said her brother was hallucinating and seeing people who weren’t there.
When deputies arrived at the scene at the South Point home, they detained the son, who explained there were people inside and under the house threatening him. A deputy found the man’s father unharmed in a hospital bed.
Officers did not find a weapon at first but later located one in a laundry basket in the man’s bedroom. They also discovered a baggie with what appeared to be crystal meth inside.
The man claimed it was not his meth. His mother said he’d been wandering through the house looking for the people he was seeing and saying he would shoot them to protect the family. The man then began to remove vents and tear up duct work in search of the intruders.
Officers impounded the suspected meth and the weapon and transported the man to the Lawrence County Jail.
