Michael “Mick” Kornhoff, 79, of Portsmouth, died Friday, February 17, 2023 at SOMC Hospice. He was born February 22, 1943 in Portsmouth, to the late Raymond and Mary (Rose) Kornhoff.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death his wife, Carol Perry Kornhoff.
Mick was a Notre Dame High School graduate, a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, and coached various youth sports. He was also a retired Union Pipefitter, having served as Union Representative to the State Delegation, and also served as Grand Knight, Trustee, and District Deputy during his tenure as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his two children, Raymond Kornhoff (Leslie) of Bryan, TX and Julie Kornhoff of LaCruses, New Mexico, four step-daughters; Tina Pollard (Jamie) of Otway, Lisa Perry of Portsmouth, Ginger Perry of Portsmouth, and Tara Ray Perry of Portsmouth, two grandchildren, Michael and William Kornhoff, three step-grandchildren; Bryan Pollard, La Bree Sanford, and Tyler Bowens.
Mick is also survived by his brother, Ted Kornhoff (Carol) of Leesburg, FL, and three sisters; Karen Mathot of Loudon, TN, Karla Ortalora of Portsmouth, and Kristin Tegtmeier (David) of Mt. Sterling, KY, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Melcher Hammer Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. A visitation for friends and family will be on Sunday from noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mick can be made to SOMC Hospice for the wonderful care Mick and his family received.
