Scioto County Commissioner Mike Crabtree has a message for the citizens of Scioto County, “I have no intention of getting elected and then resigning.”
He made the statement in response to rumors he’d heard circulating that he plans to resign from his position if he’s re-elected this November.
“I don’t know where they come from. I don’t know why people start those things,” he said before saying that he knows that rumors tend to fly during election years. He also said the rumors could be a result of other departments being disappointed in decisions made by the commissioners. “There are other elected offices that rely on us and sometimes people get disgruntled. You’re going to hear a lot of rumors, the best way is to go to the horse’s mouth.”
He went on to say that he is proud of the work the commission has done with managing the County’s money and applying for grants to improve the quality of life. He added, “Anyone who has ever run for a county office knows that it’s very costly. For the most part of the years, I’ve paid a large portion of my expenses. No one in their right mind is going to spend the effort and money and then turn around and resign. My intention is to win this election and serve another four years.”
Commissioner Bryan Davis thanked him for the clarification and said that he had a pretty good idea who was behind the rumors, though he didn’t name names. “Some people do like to tells lies.”
