The search for a missing McDermott man came to a tragic end on Wednesday, after a man walking along the railroad tracks along US 23 discovered a body on the hillside behind the Stag Bar.
Scioto County Sheriff David Thorough man says authorities have identified the remains as belonging to a man who was last seen about a month ago. Thoroughman said the Scioto County Coroner’s Office was able to identify Wilbur “Curt” Silvia, 48, through fingerprints.
Family members had not filed an official missing person report as the man was known to take off for long periods of time without contacting them.
The body was transferred to the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s office for forensic investigation, but the sheriff says there’s no reason to suspect foul play.
