Missing Man Found – Then Arrested
Portsmouth Police located a missing man, but that didn’t turn out well for him.
Just after 10 pm, a caller reported a man tearing an awning off an empty home on Summit Street.
Officers took Zachariah Dye into custody and discovered he was the subject of a missing person report. It also turned out he was the subject of an open warrant from Meigs County.
Police took him to the Scioto County Jail.
Boy Gets Off Bus, Gets Lost
Police came to the aid of a confused 9-year-old on Mound Street just before 4 pm.
The boy had gotten off the school bus but was disoriented and couldn’t find his house. He was new in town and unable to get his bearing.
An officer picked the boy up and dropped him off at his McConnell Avenue home.
Gunfire Reported in Mound Park
Just after midnight, a Grant Street caller reported hearing at least 7 gunshots fired in Mound Park.
A few minutes later, a second caller on Summit Street reported gunshots as well.
Officers responded to the scene and searched the park on foot. They did not locate anyone in the park.
