The mother of an 8-year-old Wheelersburg student is fuming after an incident on Friday afternoon.
The frantic mom called 9-1-1 at 4:30 p.m. to report that her child did not get off the school bus at their home.
She contacted the bus driver, who said he dropped the child off at another home but couldn’t remember where that was.
The mom said she would be driving around Wheelersburg in an attempt to locate the child and told officers the bus driver would be waiting near the Little League Ball Fields
. However, no one was there when the officer arrived, so they decided to wait to hear from the mom before making their next move.
Fortunately, the mom was able to locate the child and she was furious when she got the whole story. According to a post on social media, she claims the driver kicked the child and a cousin off the bus during a tornado warning. She says he stopped the bus and made the children get off even though they explained they didn’t live there.
The mom said she was in a panic due to the bad weather and alerts to seek shelter now and it took nearly an hour to be reunited with her daughter. What made the situation worse, according to the mom, was that no one in the school administration didn’t feel the driver had done anything wrong.
She said despite the fact her children had attended Wheelersburg Schools since kindergarten, she was pulling them out and finding a new school.
