Monnie Jean (Nee Boggs) Willis, 101 years old, passed away peacefully at The Avalon of New Albany assisted living on July 7, 2025. Born in Portsmouth to Jeremiah Boggs and Emma Pauley, January 11, 1924.
She Graduated from West Portsmouth High in 1942. Jean was a member of Valley United Methodist Church, on Hogan St. and Old Scioto Trail, where she lived with her family from 1953 to 1978. She was very active in Church, Cub Scouts, School PTA, and was a member of the Lucasville Order of the Eastern Star, and a Volunteer at Portsmouth Receiving Hospital. After being employed at Portsmouth News agency for 6 years, she moved to Arlington, TX in 1978, where she had an Alterations Shop for 20 years. She attended Epworth United Methodist Church, a member of the Key Stone Class, Prime Timer’s Club, National Association of Seniors, Senior Friends, AARP National, Widowed Person’s Service, and Retired Person’s Volunteer Service.
Jean moved back to Portsmouth in 2008 to join her Sister, and only surviving sibling Nellie Jane Boggs, and to care for her in her last years of ill health. Preceded in death by her Parents, Jeremiah and Emma Pauley Boggs, her only Son Robert Willis Jr., three Brothers: Ralph (Bricey) Boggs of Portsmouth, Rev. James (Olive) Boggs of Jackson, and Leonard Boggs of Texas, and 2 Sisters Nancy Logan and Leona Welch of Portsmouth, OH.
Survived by no family, and a number of Nieces and Nephews of which she was very fond.
