A woman found herself suddenly homeless before sunrise after a relationship took a sharp turn just hours after moving in.
Around 5 a.m., the woman called 911 from Wheelersburg, telling dispatch she had moved in with her boyfriend the day before—and was now kicked out and stuck outside in the cold.
Deputy Offers Warmth—and a Plan
A Scioto County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the call and allowed the woman to wait inside the patrol vehicle while dispatch worked to find a safe option for her.
Dispatch contacted a homeless shelter in Portsmouth, and arrangements were made for her to go there.
Ride to Safety
An officer then transported the woman to the shelter, getting her out of the cold and into a place where she could receive help.
No arrests were made, and no charges were filed.
A Reminder of How Fast Things Can Change
Police say calls like this are more common than people realize—especially during colder months—when domestic disputes or relationship breakups quickly turn into safety issues.
In this case, the outcome wasn’t handcuffs or court dates—just a warm ride, a safe place to land, and a long morning ahead for someone whose plans unraveled overnight.
