A homicide investigation is underway in Scioto County after deputies discovered a man dead inside a home Monday night.
According to Sheriff David Thoroughman, the incident began around 9:40 p.m. when a caller to 911 said he had stopped by a friend’s home on Millers Run Fallen Timber Road to check in and found him unresponsive. Deputies, detectives, and emergency medical crews were immediately dispatched.
After arriving on the scene, investigators determined the death was not accidental. Sheriff Thoroughman confirmed the case is being treated as a homicide. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the State Fire Marshal’s Office are assisting local authorities in processing evidence.
The victim has been identified as 59-year-old Rocky L. Jordan. Sheriff Thoroughman emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages and asked anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Jodi Conkel at 740-354-7338.
Community Reaction
Friends and family quickly took to social media to pay tribute to Jordan, remembering him as a hardworking man devoted to children and community. One relative wrote:
“This man, Rocky Jordan, stepped up and raised me as his own. He did for a lot of us. All he knew was work and raising kids. I’m shattered that he was taken from us last night and I will forever remember him as my daddy Rock. Rest in peace, pops.”
Authorities say further details will be released as the investigation continues.
