Myrtle Maxine Carver Boggs, affectionately known as Granny, 85, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother of South Portsmouth, KY., went home to be with the Lord Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY., leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and quiet strength. She was born in Garrison, KY., a daughter of the late William and Matilda Royster Carver.
Maxine was a devout Christian whose life reflected deep faith, compassion, and unwavering moral values. She loved her husband and children with all her heart, and she adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special way of making each child feel like they were the most important person in the world. Her care and devotion knew no limits in times of hardship. She selflessly looked after her parents and her husband through their final days with grace and tenderness. She poured her heart into her home, making it a place of warmth and comfort, not only for her family but for anyone in need. Whether through a home-cooked meal, a kind word, or simply her presence, Maxine made people feel loved and safe.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Royce Boggs, whom she was married to for 59 years before his passing in 2018, and one daughter, Roxane Abrams.
Left behind to cherish her memory are two daughters, Rhonda Boggs of Russell, KY., and Nancy (Troy) James of South Shore, KY; two sons, Royce Kelly (Glenda) Boggs and Craig Boggs both of South Shore, KY; one sister, Patsy Leadingham; one brother, Ben Carver, also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
She lived with purpose, gave without expecting anything in return, and left this world a better place because she was in it. She taught her family what true love and compassion meant. We miss her dearly but rejoice knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior. We take solace in the promise that one day, we will all be with her again.
Funeral services will be 11 A.M. on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at Morton-Hunt Family Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., with Bill Carver officiating. Burial will follow at Siloam Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. and one hour before the service on Wednesday.
