Naked Man Goes For Stroll in Wheelersburg
Just before 4 pm, witnesses reported a naked man walking down Ohio River Road carrying two large water jugs.
By the time officers arrived on the scene, the man was gone. Witnesses said someone picked him up and headed in the direction of Ainsley Avenue.
When police to spoke to a neighbor, she explained the man has mental health issues and lives with his grandfather.
Officers received another report of someone walking in the road about half an hour later on Sr. Rte 522. Callers felt the man might be high. Officers caught up with on Goose Creek Road, got him a bottle of water, and gave him a ride to the parking lot of Pine Creek Church.
Car Thieves Caught in the Act In Franklin Furnace
Franklin Furnace residents contacted 911 at 3:38 am to report someone was in the act of stealing a silver Jeep Patriot.
The thieves removed the vehicle’s tag and were headed towards Rt. 522. The caller identified the suspects and said she believed one of them took the keys from her home. She said they smashed out the windshield of her vehicle.
Officers spoke to the owner of the vehicle and searched the area for the suspects.
Police Chase on Tick Ridge Road
An attempt to pull over a speeder led to a police chase on Tick Ridge Road at 5:20 am.
When officers tried to pull over a black vehicle, the driver took off and headed onto Med McNear hitting speeds over 80 miles an hour.
The driver went through a yard and almost hit a pool before being blocked off by a pond. The driver then fled on foot across a field. Officers were unable to locate the driver.
The contacted the registered owner of the vehicle and arranged to have it towed. The owner said only one person had the keys to the vehicle, so police were pretty sure they knew who the driver was.
