Officers frequently find themselves dealing with folks in the midst of a mental health crisis who are either wandering in the road or stripping off their clothes.
Deputies responded to a call that combined both of those issues on St. Rt. 139 just after noon. A caller reported that a woman with mental health issues had been outside naked the day before and was now out in the middle of the road stopping cars. Additionally, she’d written something about being murdered on the side of her trailer.
Officers responded to the scene and spoke to the people who lived in the trailer. They said they were fine and refused all offers of help. Police noted the home was in poor condition and the writing on the side of the trailer, but the pair did not wish to speak to officers.
At 9 p.m., officers were called to Junior Road for a report of a woman standing out in the middle of the road. Witnesses said she appeared “spaced out” and was nearly hit by cars multiple times.
When officers caught up with her, they determined she was having mental health issues. Her finance came to pick her up.
