Nancy Atkinson, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, Ohio. Born on August 10, 1952, Nancy dedicated her life to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), serving with compassion and skill at Hempstead Manor for an impressive 45 years before her retirement in 2013.
Nancy was a woman of simple joys and profound love. Her passion for crocheting and baking brought comfort to many, as she often shared her creations with family and friends. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her beloved family, including her niece, Erica Day-Hamilton, whose close bond with Nancy filled both their lives with joy.
She was the daughter of the late George and Esther Mae (nee Miller) Day, and will be lovingly remembered by her brother, William Day of New Boston, and her stepson, Michael Craig Atkinson of Cincinnati. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Michael Atkinson, whom she lost in 2018, and her brothers, James Day and George Day.
A devoted member of the Central Church of Christ, Nancy found strength through her faith and community involvement, touching the lives of many with her kindness and generosity.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at FC Daehler Mortuary, 915 Ninth Street, Portsmouth, OH 45662. Viewing will take place from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Pastor Dennis Dawes will be officiating.
