A neighbor called police on a child with autism, a babysitter reported a toddler in an unheated apartment, and a man was attacked by pit bulls. Those are just some of the called PPD dealt with.

We break down the highlights.

When Spiders Attack

Just before 3:30 am a woman called for help from Farley Court. She said a spider bit her on the butt.

Troubled Teen

A mom called the police for help just after 5 am. She said her teen son was acting unruly. Police said if the behavior continues, the court system may need to get involved.

  • Officers were called to Hudson House at 7:45 am for a theft report. A woman claimed another woman took a bag with a hairbrush inside from her.
  • Police responded to a report of a rental car stolen from Robinson Avenue just after 11 am. They took information for a report.
  • At 2:02 pm, a Mabert Road caller reported a man stumbling around checking car doors. Police could not locate him.
  • The owner of Autobahn Auto Werks told police an employee ordered nearly $900 in parts and charged them to the store without authorization. Police took information for a report.

Lost on the Bridge

A caller reported an apparently impaired man walking on the bridge, wearing a blanket. He was on the Kentucky side, but Greenup didn’t have a unit available to check.

He told police he’d just left Portsmouth Municipal Court and couldn’t remember which way to go to get home.  Police transported him to the Farley Square area where he said he had family.

Stolen Gun

Officers responded to a report of a stolen gun on Highland Avenue at 10:30 am. A woman told police her ex-husband assaulted her and stole her loaded gun before leaving on foot towards Hutchins.  Police took information for a report.

At 12:40 pm, a caller reported spotting the suspect at the Salvation Army. Police caught up with him and arrested him.

Family Feud

Officers responded to 4th Street just before 1 am when a woman reported her sister causing problems with their mother. She informed police the woman had a warrant.

Police took her into custody.

Attacked By A Pit Bull

At 3:20 pm, a man reported a bite from a pit bull. He said he was walking on North Avenue when one brown dog and one white dog approached him and attacked. He tried to kick the dogs away, but got a noticeable bite on his right ankle.

Animal Control responded to cite the owners but required help from the police to deal with hostile residents.

Baby In The  Cold

Police responded to a report of a child in danger just before 5 pm.  The woman told police there is no heat in the apartment of a child she babysits.

She also says the front door doesn’t close properly and that there’s drug activity in the apparent. The woman also alleged that the neighbor’s pit bull bit the baby.

When police checked with the parents, they admitted a neighbor’s dog knocked the 2-year-old down but there were no visible signs of a bite. They claimed there is no heat because PMHA won’t fix the problem.

Officers noted that the apartment is not clean.

Man With A Knife

Just after 8 pm, police received a report of a man with a knife at a 17th Street Address. Police said the man was gone by the time they arrived at the address.

Child Screaming

At 8:30 pm, police responded to a request for a welfare check on a Wayne Avenue child. The caller said the parents were screaming at the child and that the child was crying. Further, she said, she’d never seen the child because the doors and windows are always closed to the apartment.

Officers spoke to the mother who explained the child is autistic and often very loud.  The child is verbal, so officers were able to communicate.  Police noted the apartment was very clean and that the child appeared happy and healthy.
