Scioto County Sheriff’s logs have revealed new details in Saturday’s South Webster shooting that resulted in the arrest of 36-year-old John Moore on charges of attempted murder and felonious assault in the shooting of his former girlfriend’s father, Joeseph Morris.
The incident started when a woman called 9-1-1 on Saturday afternoon to request assistance in retrieving her belongings from her ex’s home on Lick Run Lyra Road. She told 9-1-1 she’d changed the locks. Dispatch told her to call back to get set up with an escort, but she never did.
Shortly after, she called 9-1-1 to say that Moore had shot her father. She admitted her father, who had a CCW permit, had a holstered weapon with him but said he never drew it before Moore shot him in the yard.
Moore also called 9-1-1 and admitted he shot Morris, but he claimed it was because the man had threatened him earlier. Officers responded to the scene to detain Moore, and medics transported Morris to SOMC, and he was flown to a Columbus hospital by air ambulance.
Moore is currently in the Scioto County Jail and had a court appearance on Tuesday.
