An officer was injured in a scuffle with a suspect said to be in possession of a knife on Monday evening.
The original call came from a female who stated a male, in the company of another female, had made threats and slashed her tires with a knife. As deputies were on the way, the suspect left the location. The victim gave a description and possible address where the suspect and his female companion may be headed.
Soon after, the vehicle was spotted at the Subway sandwich shop at the 52 split in Portsmouth.
Officers from New Boston, the Sheriff’s Department, and the OSP converged on the scene. A scuffle broke out. The suspect was apprehended. Soon after, a medic was dispatched for a deputy who was injured in the struggle.
Medics transported the deputy to SOMC with unknown injuries. Another deputy then went to SOMC to take a report and get pictures.
Scioto County Sheriff, David Thoroughman, told SCDN that the deputy was treated and released. He said more details will be released later today.
