At 3 am, deputies received a report of a man running through West Portsmouth, claiming a crowd of men were chasing him.
When he called 9-1-1, the man said he was hiding on a stranger’s porch but could not provide details as to who was chasing him.
When officers responded to the scene, they called for an ambulance for the man, but he refused transport. Police took him home, and he told them there were people hiding inside the home. Officers cleared the premises and discovered two swords and a knife near the front door.
The man agreed to go to SOMC for evaluation. An ambulance transported the man to the hospital.
Two hours later, officers responded to another report of a person having a mental health crisis. A woman went to a neighbor’s house and said people had been electrocuting her, and she had burns all over her body.
Officers sent for an ambulance to transport the woman to the hospital for treatment.
