A local high school called in deputies to investigate a report of an alleged stabbing during a math class. The weapon of choice was a mechanical pencil.
The investigation began when a school resource officer was called into the vice principal’s office to speak to a student about the incident.
According to the alleged victim, he was in math class when another student stabbed him several times with a mechanical pencil. The boy said he asked the other student to stop, but the boy laughed about stabbing him and putting a hole in his shirt. When the boy went home and told his mother about the incident, she insisted he tell school officials.
The alleged attacker said he didn’t stab anyone, but it was possible he might have accidentally poked him. When the vice principal said there might be witnesses, the boy said he would just confess and take his detention to get it over with.
The deputy contacted the boy’s father, who said his son would not have done anything and that the other child must be some kind of troublemaker. When the Lawrence County Deputy explained that the victim’s parents wanted to press charges, the father became furious and said he would get a lawyer for his son.
