Judging from the 20 pages of calls Portsmouth Police officers responded to between Monday and early Wednesday, criminals are not practicing social distancing and Wonder Woman partied a bit too hard.

Officers had to deploy a TASER to subdue a man who stole items from the Speedway on Gallia after he put up a fight when police attempted to take him into custody around 1:30 am on Monday.  He was taken to the Scioto County Jail, where he won’t be allowed to have any visitors because of Coronavirus restrictions.

Just after 3 am on Thomas Avenue, officers responded to reports of a man jumping and screaming while carrying a TV. He was taken away by ambulance but not before lying to the police about who he was. His TV was confiscated.

Just after 5 pm officers responded to a report of a female in a Wonder Woman outfit, standing by the side of the road at 11th and Offnere  and ‘acting high.’ By the time police arrived at the scene, she’d left the scene. No word on whether she used an invisible plane to flee.

Around 3 in the morning on Tuesday, officers answered a call about a suspicious person in a Grandview Avenue backyard. Turned out to be the homeowner’s grandson who was heavily intoxicated and claimed someone had stolen his bike. The officer located the bike at the house and all was well.

Just before 9 am on Tuesday, officers responded to 8th street for a report of a woman aimlessly doing U-turns in a parking lot. Officers say she appears to have suffered a psychological break. The woman left her home open with nearly $5000 inside. They took the money for safekeeping, impounded the truck, and, took her to SOMC for evaluation.

Two guys with warrants lucked out when officers responded to a disagreement over some tools Tuesday afternoon. Jason Hurt loaned Steve Fraley some tools and Fraley admits that he pawned them. Both men had outstanding warrants for probation violations. But due to the COVID-19 crisis, officers aren’t acting on those warrants. Both men were told to report to the probation office. Fraley promised to get the tools from the pawnshop before April 1st.

A 5-year-old girl with Down Syndrome fell from a 2-story window after her brother left a window open in his bedroom. The mother refused the fire department transport to the hospital, thinking it might upset the girl. She chose to take her to the hospital herself.
