Just after 6:30 pm, officers responded to the KFC/Taco Bell on US 23 after a caller said a man who’d just left rehab was being very persistent in attempts to get a ride home.
The caller said the man was bothering a handicapped older gentleman who had a young child with him. When the caller suggested that the man in search of a ride call the Sheriff’s Office for help, they said the man became uneasy, and the older gentleman and child seemed scared.
When officers arrived on the scene, the older man said that he and his granddaughter were not afraid and that they had agreed to give the rehab patient a ride back to Columbus.
Officers checked to make sure the man had no warrants. Police determined no crimes had been committed and allowed the unlikely group to depart.
