First responders revived an overdose victim at a local carryout and caught a motorcycle thief red-handed. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Bar Fight on Chillicothe
Officers were called to Frank & Steins Lounge just before 1 am for a report of a drunk driver.
The bartender told police a woman arrived at the bar drunk and then attempted to fight the bartender. The woman then got in her car and left.
Police found the car at JJ Shenanigans. Since the fight was only verbal, the police did not charge her. They did, however, speak to the woman about behaving herself
No Room For Inmates
A traffic stop on 7th Street turned up two people with open warrants. However, Pike County said they could not take the female fugitive due to COVID housing restrictions. Police cited her for driving with a suspended license and arranged for the vehicle’s owner to pick it up.
They arrested her passenger on an open warrant and took her to the Scioto County Jail.
Under The Influence
- Officers responded to the Post Office for a report of a man slumped over in a white pickup truck. Officers arrested the man and arranged for the vehicle to be towed.
- Just after noon, a caller reported a man and woman shooting up near the guardrail by AutoZone. Police could not locate them.
- A Vinton Avenue caller requested that officers check on an apparently high man who may have overdosed just after 2:30 pm.
Overdose at the Oasis
Police responded to the Oasis Convenient Mart at 2 pm for a report of an overdosed man inside a vehicle. The caller said the victim’s lips were blue. The Portsmouth Fire Department revived him. He refused further treatment and was released to a sober party.
An hour later a caller contacted police worried that the man had overdosed again. Police found the man who was meeting with a substance abuse counselor and considering going into treatment.
Motorcycle Thief Caught in The Act
A sharp-eyed officer spotted a red truck pulling a trailer with a motorcycle on it on Harding Avenue just before 8 am. The motorcycle was confirmed to be stolen from Lawrence County. Officers aren’t sure about the trailer.
Police took the man into custody.
When the owner showed up to retrieve the motorcycle, police would not release it to him due to a problem with his trailer. They issued a warning for not having a brake light.
