Overdose at the Quality Inn
Just before 2 am, EMS and officers responded to a report that a woman had overdosed at the Quality Inn on the Old Scioto Trail.
Two EMS squads responded to the scene, but the patient did not require transport to the hospital.
High as a Kite at the Taco Bell
Around 2 pm, callers reported an apparently high man in a red shirt stumbling around the Taco Bell Parking Lot on Gallia.
When police responded to the scene, they took the man into custody for disorderly conduct and possessing a drug abuse instrument.
Nodding out at the Rosemount McDonald’s
Just after 9:30 pm, callers reported a man slumped over the steering wheel of a running car in the McDonald’s on the Old Scioto Trail.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a man slumped over in the running vehicle. He woke up and said he was sitting in the car because he’d fought with his girlfriend and was trying to calm down.
However, officers noted signs of impairment during a sobriety test, and he admitted to using heroin earlier in the day.
Police allowed a family member to pick up the man and his vehicle and take him home.
Overdose Under the Bridge
Multiple reports of overdoses kept police busy around town.
At 12:30 pm, EMS and officers responded to 7th and Brown Streets after a report of an overdose in the alley.
An ambulance transported the man to the hospital for treatment.
At 2 pm, a man flagged down a motorist to say his brother was dying under the Grant Bridge and needed help. About the same time a 9-1-1 caller reported an unresponsive man under the bridge with a group gathered around trying to revive him.
Shawnee State Police, Portsmouth Police, and EMS responded to the scene. However, the man jumped up and ran away before help arrived.
