Portsmouth Police responded to multiple reports of overdoses and dealt with a shooting threat. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Ex Posts Nude on Facebook
A man complained to police that his ex had posted nudes of him on Facebook.
An officer headed out to the former girlfriend’s house to take information for a report.
Under the Influence
- Just before 8 am, a caller reported a man sitting in a Uhaul by a church at 15th and Waller smoking a crack pipe. Police could not locate the person.
- A witness reported several people inside a condemned home on Gallia Street doing drugs. Police detained three men. One of whom had an open warrant. However, since all of them had COVID, police released them.
- At 12:30 pm, a caller reported someone sleeping on the table in the PMHA laundry room. He left before the police arrived.
- A worried dad called the police at 4:46 pm to report his son had overdosed. The man was alert by the time police arrived and refused medical treatment.
- CVS employees contacted police at 8:30 pm to report a woman locked herself into the bathroom and may be overdosing. She left the building headed towards Tracy Park. When police caught up with her she said she was only trying to get warm and had fallen asleep. Police advised her of the closest homeless shelter.
Shooting Threats
A Thomas Avenue caller reported her former boyfriend had threatened to come over and shoot people. However, he deleted the messages and she neglected to screenshot them.
Officers advised her on the process of obtaining a protection order.
Trouble Woman Threatens to Poison Dog
A troubled woman with whom police have frequent contact prompted a disturbance call. The caller said she had threatened to poison a dog.
She left before the police arrived.
Suspicious Activity
- Witnesses reported a man in a fur coat pacing back on forth on Gallia Street for an hour around 3 pm. Police spoke with the man and advised him to go home.
- Police responded to a report of a man sleeping in the lobby of Kroger. He was asked several times to leave the building. He told officers he was just waiting for the Salvation Army to open. Police advised him to move along.
- Officers answered a call regarding people taking the boards off the doors and windows of a condemned 7th Street home at 5 pm.
Kids Gone Wild
A dust-up between several juveniles brought police to Franklin Avenue at 3:30 pm. Two juveniles were in front of a home threatening another juvenile.
The dispute started on social media and apparently, the mother of one of the kids got involved and also started making threats. Two juveniles told police a third told them to come to her house and fight her after they had an incident with her at Kroger the previous day.
Police advised everyone involved to behave.
Welfare Check
Officers were asked to check on the welfare of a North Hill Road resident at 6 pm. He had earlier sent some concerning texts and no one could contact him.
Officers found his vehicle in front of a local bar, but it had been parked there overnight. There was no answer at his residence.
Missing Person
A worried uncle contacted police to report his 25-year-old nephew missing. No one had heard from the missing man since December 20.
Officers took information for a report.
