Pair Detained After 5th Street House Fire
Just before 2:30 pm, firefighters and officers responded to a report of a house fire on 6th Street. Police notified AEP of the incident, and the Fire Marshal and the Red Cross responded to the scene.
Officers detained a man and woman at the scene and took them to the station for questioning. However, neither individual was arrested.
Stranger Repeatedly Tries to Get Into Summit Street Home
Residents of a Summit Street home contacted officers just before 2 am to report that a strange bearded man was on their porch.
The family said this was an ongoing issue and that the man had shown up on their porch at night before and attempted to open the door to the home.
When officers responded to the scene, they determined the man was experiencing some mental health issues. They told him to leave the property and not return or face a criminal trespass charge.
Officers Respond to New Boston Street Brawl
A brawl in the middle of Harrison Avenue was too much for the New Boston Police Department to handle alone, so they requested help from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to respond to t report of multiple people brawling in the roadway.
When officers arrived on the scene, they didn’t find the combatants, but some teenagers told deputies the brawlers were a man and a woman who left the area on foot.
Deputies searched but were unable to locate the pair.
Deputies Respond to Three Burglary Alarms in 10 Minutes
Burglar alarms sounded all over the county on Wednesday afternoon, with deputies answering three separate calls in the span of 10 minutes.
The first call occurred at 1:28 pm at the AmeriGas on Valley Lane. When deputies responded to the commercial burglar alarm, they found the building secure with no sign of forced entry.
Just 8 minutes later, a residential alarm sounded on Riddlebarger Road. Deputies spoke to a neighbor who said she was outside the house when the alarm sounded but didn’t see any signs of a burglar. Deputies found no sign of forced entry.
Two minutes after that, another home alarm went off on Kittle Road. Officers said there was no sign of any problem, and the house appeared secure.
