Zachary Boone was released on parole from the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility this morning. However, he didn’t make it to lunch before he ended up back behind bars after going on a Pike County crime spree.
Boone, 24, who was doing time for burglary, theft, and assault, got out of jail and immediately began stealing things and assaulting people.

Just before 11 am, Waverly Police Officers received an alert to be on the lookout for a stolen Saturn headed down US 23 after a thief took off with it in Piketon.
A few minutes later, a report of a robbery at the Valero gas station came in. A suspect matching the description of the car thief took off in a stolen SUV. Officers found the vehicle a few minutes later parked in the lot at Rural King.
They learned that Boone had just left the store wearing Rural King merchandise, but not before stealing a phone from a pedestrian in the parking lot and then hitting his victim with a stolen car.
Officers pursued Boone down Second Street, where they crashed into him near Depot Street. Officers took him into custody, but he needed a trip to the hospital for his crash injuries.
Boone faces new charges, including robbery, aggravated robbery, felonious assault, and failure to comply with the signal of an officer. SCDN will go out on a limb and say he may be looking at a parole violation as well.
