Parolee with 36 Arrests Investigated After Report of Assault

Parolee Investigated After Report of Assault

A parolee with 36 previous arrests drew the attention of Portsmouth Police officers after a witness reported he was beating a woman on 7th Street.

Officers were unable to locate the man at the time of the report. However, several hours later, a rehab facility asked the police for a welfare check. They said the man had called a facility in Ironton to say he was doing ice and might harm himself or someone else.

When officers responded to the home, the man told police he was okay and was going to take a shower and go to a hospital for treatment.

Back in April, officers arrested him for a parole violation after another report of domestic violence. At the time, the Ohio Department of Rehabilitations described the man as “armed and dangerous.” He served 25 days in jail for that violation.
