Portsmouth Officers investigated two scary incidents involving weapons on 6th Street and busted a passed-out driver at the Taco Bell. We break down the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.
Pop Causes Problems at Nursing Home
A local nursing home contacted police at 12:42 pm to report an incident between two residents.
Two residents got into a verbal altercation over a can of pop. One resident threatened to beat another resident up over the soda disagreement.
Man with Gun on 6th Street
Just before 1 pm, a woman taking a lunch break in her vehicle on 6th Street heard a gunshot.
She looked up and spotted a bearded man with a shotgun running back and forth between two houses. She managed to get a video of the man.
Police took information for a report.
Later in the day, there was another incident involving weapons on 6th Street. A man contacted police at 4 pm to report two men in a vehicle pointed a gun at him and his family.
He went to get his own firearm but noticed the pair had an airsoft rifle and put his weapon away. He said the pair were in a red 4-door vehicle with a silver driver’s door. They went east on 6th and turned onto Brown.
Suspicious Activity on Linden Avenue
Officer checked into citizen’s reports of suspicious activity on Linden Avenue. Witnesses reported multiple vehicles parked on the sidewalk with lots of activity back and forth. They feared there was drug activity happening.
An officer looked into the complaint and discovered the vehicles were parked on the sidewalk to avoid being struck by passing vehicles due to the weather situation.
Grand Theft Auto
A driver made a big mistake and left a vehicle running with the keys in the ignition outside the Family Dollar on Gallia at 1:56 pm. Sure enough, someone hopped in the car and took off.
Police took information for a report.
Rocky Relationship
Police responded to a report of a domestic incident on 6th Street at 3:30 pm. A caller reported a woman throwing rocks at a man.
The pair left before the officers arrived.
Passed out at Taco Bell
At 3:51 pm, a caller reported a man passed out in the driver’s seat of a black Kia with Kentucky plates parked at the Taco Bell on Gallia.
Police took the man into custody and arranged to have the vehicle towed before dropping him off at the Scioto County Jail.
